How to Upload Videos to a PC From a Canon HF20by Matt McKay
The Canon HF20 is a compact, high-definition camcorder in the company's Vixia line. Although it features 32 GB of built-in memory and has provision for an additional SD card, videos should be regularly uploaded to a computer to save camcorder space and to enable computer editing and sharing if so desired. The Canon Vixia HF20 is supplied with a standard IFC-400PCU USB cable for connection to computers and Pixella ImageMaker SE 3 Video Tools software on CD. Uploading videos to your computer from the HF20 is also possible with other major software applications.
Install the Pixella ImageMaker 3 SE software on your computer by inserting the CD and following installation instructions.
Turn the camera power off. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the USB port located under the plastic side port cover of the camcorder.
Insert the other end of the USB cable into the USB port of your computer, turn the camera power on and the mode switch to camera mode. This is indicated by a camera icon. Upon initial connection, a message may appear, telling you that a new device has been found and is ready to use.
Launch the Pixella ImageMaker software. Click "Import" under the File menu. The videos will upload to the computer and will be visible as thumbnail images in the software's viewing window. Your videos are now uploading to the computer and are ready to view or edit.
