How to Upload Free International Maps in a Garmin GPS

Traveling outside the country can be expensive and overwhelming. Learning foreign languages, learning about the area that you are visiting and determining how to interact with the culture can require a lot of preparation. Your Garmin GPS device makes worrying about packing maps for obsolete -- if you have already uploaded free international maps, that is.

Connect your Garmin GPS to you computer using a USB cable. Plug the small end into the Garmin GPS and the large end into the computer's USB port.

Sign into your Garmin online account and download all the map updates for your device.

Disconnect your Garmin GPS from your computer after the map updates are completely installed. You now have free international maps.
