How to Update the Garmin KNA-G510by Mandy Slake
The Garmin KNA-G510 is a vehicle navigation system. Kenwood manufactures the hardware and Garmin provides the software. There have been several software updates since the system launched. Users can update the software by copying the files onto an SD card and inserting the card in the SD card slot.
Insert an SD card with at least 16 megabytes of free space in your computer's SD card reader.
Click "Start" and "Computer".
Double-click on the SD card, then right-click on any white space.
Select "New" and "Folder". Name the new folder "garmin".
Download the update for your KNA-510 (see Resources).
Run the file. If your browser does not prompt you to run it, download the file, copy it to the desktop and double-click on the file. The program will ask what folder you want to extract to.
Click "Browse" and select your SD card reader. Select the "garmin" folder and click "Unzip".
Close the window once the software is finished extracting the files. Remove the SD card.
Turn off your KNA-510 and remove the SD card from the slot if it already has a card installed.
Insert the SD card you copied the files to and power on the KNA-510.
Select "Yes" when it asks if you would like to update.
Wait for the update to finish, and then remove the SD card.
- check Check the version by clicking "Menu", "Settings", "About" and "Software."
- close Don't power off the KNA-510 while it is updating.
