Unlocking your Sprint mobile phone will allow you to use your device on another mobile provider's network. To use the phone with another provider, you must first unlock the phone, and then insert the SIM card of the new network. You can obtain the unlock code from Sprint for free. If you cannot get the unlock code from your device from customer service, you must obtain the code from an online provider for a fee.

Obtain an Unlock Code

Step 1

Obtain your phone's IMEI code, which is necessary to unlock the device. Press " *#06# " on your device and the code will be displayed. Alternatively, obtain the code by removing the battery from the device, locating the digits printed inside of the battery compartment.

Step 2

Call Sprint's customer service at 888-211-4727. Request your unlock code from the customer service agent. Be prepared to give the agent the phone's model, IMEI code and your email. The agent will send the code to your email address. The email will include instructions for entering the code on your specific device.

Step 3

Purchase an unlock code from an online provider if you are unable to obtain the code from Sprint's customer service agent (see Resources). Be prepared to enter your model number, IMEI code, billing information and email address. Check your email to retrieve the unlock code and instructions.
