We live in a digital world where music is sent from place to place via email, iPods and even cell phones, but there are still uses for burning or transferring music to a CD for use in the car or as a backup in case your computer crashes. Transferring music to a CD is a fairly simple process, but there are a variety of peripherals and programs that you have the option of using to transfer the music.
Burning Music to a CD
Download music files to computer. If you don't have the files already on the computer, then you may need to purchase a USB turntable or cassette deck if you want to download records and cassette tapes onto the computer. If it is a CD, then you will be able to simply transfer to the computer via the CD or DVD drive. You can also purchase songs or albums directly from the Internet and onto your computer. If the files are already on your computer, then you can skip this step.
Choose a CD burning software. There are a number of CD burning software programs available at stores and on the web. Windows Media Player also has the ability to burn CDs as well. You must decide what program has the features that you want the most. Some programs give you the ability to create CD covers for the albums, while others give you better sound quality and other programs can provide more options for recording.
Develop a track list. Almost all CD burning programs provide the ability to create custom CD tracks to suit your moods or needs. The track lists gives you the ability to add the songs that you want and leave off the ones you don't like.
Burn the playlist to a disc. You must have a writable CD drive and purchase CDs that are either CD-R or CD-RW formats. The process of burning is often as simple as clicking on the burn button and then the computer will do the rest. When finished, you should have a CD that can be played in any audio CD player.
