How to Test the WiFi Speed of an iPhoneby Andrew Tennyson
In addition to making telephone calls and sending text messages, your Apple iPhone can access wireless hot spots. Wi-Fi hot spots enable you to access email, websites and other Internet content without having to use your cellular data plan. But not all wireless networks are created equal. If you are curious about the speed of the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected, you can test your connection by accessing free Internet speed-testing websites or by downloading a connection-evaluation app from the iTunes store.
Launch your iPhone’s Web browser.
Navigate to the DSLReports.com website.
Tap the “WiFi” button under the “How is your mobile device connected?” heading to test your iPhone’s Wi-Fi speed. Your current speed is displayed on your screen when the test is complete.
Launch a Web-browsing app on your iPhone.
Navigate to the 3GSpeed.info website.
Tap the “Begin Test” button on the main page of the 3GSpeed.info website to analyze your Wi-Fi connection. When the test is complete, your speed is displayed on your screen.
Tap the “iTunes Store” or “iTunes” icon on your iPhone’s Home screen. Search for the free SpeedTest.net app and click the “Install” button to download and install it on your iPhone.
Launch the SpeedTest.net app on your iPhone.
Tap the “Speed Test” button.
Tap the “Begin Test” button to test and display your iPhone’ Wi-Fi speed.
