How to Switch From a Personal to a Business Facebook Account

by Will Conley

Switching from a personal Facebook account to a business Facebook account means converting your personal profile into a Facebook Page. A Facebook Page is like a personal profile but designed especially for your business type and category. It can support an unlimited number of fans. When you make the switch, your profile images will be carried over, and all of your friends will be converted to fans. All other data such as regular photos, status updates, notes and so forth will be lost. Converting from a Facebook profile to a business Facebook Page is quick and permanent.

Log in to your personal Facebook account.

Type or copy and paste "facebook.com/pages/create.php?migrate" (without quotes) into your browser's address bar, then press "Enter."

Click a business type, such as Local Business, Brand or Public Figure.

Enter the category and name of your business along with your business address and contact information if applicable.

Click inside the checkbox to agree to the terms of service, then click "Get Started."
