How to Speed Up My PC Safely

Excessive programs and files can substantially decrease the performance of a computer. You can fix this problem by using Microsoft's System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG). The System Configuration Utility allows you to modify various settings on your computer. In order to speed up you computer, you need use the System Configuration Utility to disable unnecessary start-up programs, services, and the GUI boot screen.

Disable start-up programs. An excess of programs running during the Windows start-up causes a significant lag in performance. To disable start-up programs, go to the Start Menu and click on "Run." Type "msconfig" onto the search bar and click "OK" to open Microsoft's System Configuration Utility. Go to the "Startup" tab, and disable all unnecessary programs.

Disable unnecessary "services." The services are applications that run continuously on your computer. To disable unnecessary services, go to the "Services" tab, and click on "Hide all Microsoft services" first. Next, disable all unnecessary services that are running on your computer.

Optimize the boot settings of your computer. Go to the "Boot" tab and click on "No GUI boot." Disabling the GUI boot will simplify the booting interface and will accelerate the start-up process.

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
