How to Setup MSN Email in Outlook

by Bobson St. Pierre

If you're a subscriber to MSN Internet service and access your emails through their web-based Internet portal, you should know that you can access your emails through their network within Microsoft Outlook, so you can make use of all the features of the MSN Network plus Microsoft Outlook. MSN Supports Post Office Protocol (POP3), and through that technology, you can configure Microsoft Outlook to pull and send email using MSN's Network. There are many versions of Microsoft Outlook, and their set-up process is not much different.

Open Microsoft Outlook 2007.

Click "Tools" on the toolbar. Select "Account Settings." The "Account Settings" window opens.

Under the "E-mail" tab, click "New." The "Add New E-mail Account" window opens.

Click the check box labeled "Manually configure server settings or additional server types," then click "Next."

Select "Internet E-mail" and "Next."

Under the "Internet E-mail Settings" screen, type your full name, email address, incoming mail server, user name and password. Your incoming mail server is "pop3.email.msn.com" while your outgoing mail server is "smtp.email.msn.com." Your user name is your MSN account name, and the password is your MSN password. Leave the account type as "POP3."

Click "Test Account Settings." If there are no issues or errors, click "Next" and "Finish."
