How to Install Dish Network With a Panasonic Viera
By Tricia Goss
DISH Network provides an HD DVR called The Hopper to subscribers. This set-top box receives satellite programming and sends it to the television to which it is connected. DISH recommends connecting your DVR via an HDMI connection if possible, as this method provides high-quality audio and HD/SD video using a single cable. As the Panasonic Viera TV includes three HDMI ports, you can use this technique to install the DVR onto your television.
Step 1
Make sure your television and your DVR are both turned off. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the DVR. Connect the other end of the cable into one of the three HDMI In ports on the back of the TV.
Step 2
Press the "Power" button on the receiver and then press the "Power" button on the side of the TV to turn on each device.
Step 3
Press the "Input" button on the Panasonic Viera remote. Use the up and down arrow buttons to select the HDMI port into which you plugged the HDMI cable. Press "OK" to select this input option.
Step 4
Change the channel using the DISH remote and press the up and down volume keys on the DISH remote to ensure it is working properly.

Tips
- The HDMI cable should transmit audio and video from your DISH receiver to your Panasonic Viera TV, but if you have any trouble with sound quality, you can use a red and white RCA cable. Connect the corresponding cable prongs into the receiver's RCA output and the TV's RCA input ports (the red prongs go in the red ports and the white prongs go into the white ports).
