Netbooks such as the Aspire One from Acer offer numerous benefits for people seeking a lightweight laptop. The Aspire One features midrange specifications packed into a portable chassis. However, the small screen size can cause problems for some Acer users. Because the Aspire One's screen only measures 10.1 inches, it can be difficult to see small details on it. To compensate for this, you can increase the Aspire One netbook's screen resolution within Windows.

1

Bring up the desktop on the Aspire One.

2

Press the "Start" button and select "Control Panel" from the right-hand menu.

3

Find and select "Adjust screen resolution" under "Appearance and Personalization."

4

Click the pull-down menu next to the Resolution section to bring up the resolution adjustment slider.

5

Move the slider up or down to adjust the resolution and size of all onscreen elements. Acer optimizes its Aspire One website at 1024 by 600 pixels, so you could try this resolution first. Once the resolution looks the best to you, click "Keep" to save any changes.

Tip

  • check Almost every application has magnification options, which allow you to increase the size of text or other onscreen elements within that program only, rather than adjusting the resolution for the entire computer.

Warning

  • close Decreasing your Aspire One's resolution can degrade the laptop's image quality, because a low-resolution display produces equally low-resolution visuals.
