How to Rescan a Digital TV

by J. Anthony Cooley

Broadcasting stations may periodically update their digital channels, which makes it necessary to regularly rescan your digital converter box to make sure your digital TV is getting all of the digital channels available in your area. Failure to rescan your digital converter box leaves you with fewer channels to watch. Rescanning requires no special tools -- the entire process is completed using your remote control and takes only a few minutes.

1

Turn on both your TV and digital converter box. Press the "Menu" button on the remote control for the digital converter box. Use the arrowed navigation buttons to highlight the "Setup" option, then press the "Enter" button on the remote.

2

Use the arrowed navigation buttons to highlight the "Channel Scan" option and press "Enter" on the remote. It will take a few minutes while the system scans for available digital channels. When the scanning is completed, a menu will ask if you would like to save the channels. Highlight the "Yes" option and press "Enter."

3

Press the "Exit" button on the remote to exit the menu and turn your converter box off and then back on. Scan through the channels to confirm they were saved. If the channels did not save, repeat the process.
