How to Remove McAfee from a Dell

by Mickey Walburg

McAfee is a software company that produces a line of antivirus software and other security products marketed under the McAfee brand name. These products often come pre-installed on Dell computers. McAfee software typically includes a limited time trial license which allows you to use the product for 30 to 60 days; then, if you don't purchase a license, the product expires and stops working. If you would rather install other security products or you just want to remove the McAfee software from your computer, use the Programs and Features menu.

Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Open the "Add/Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" utility, depending on which version of Windows you are running.

Click on "McAfee VirusScan" and click on the "Uninstall" or "Remove" button.

Click "Yes To All" and then restart your computer.

Repeat the above steps to remove other McAfee programs from your computer such as Personal Firewall Plus and Privacy Service.
