How to Reinstall Dragon Naturally Speaking

By John Mitchell

Dragon Naturally Speaking is speech recognition software used to create documents, manage email and browse the Web via your voice. Reinstalling the program is like installing it for the first time; however, if you need to uninstall the software first, there are some precautions you will need to take. When uninstalling, it is important you tell the software you want to save your voice training files. When you first set up the program, you had to go through a training phase. You can avoid the voice training again after reinstalling, if you properly uninstall.

Uninstall Dragon Naturally Speaking

Open the Start Menu and select "Control Panel."

Click the "Programs and Features" or "Add/Remove Programs" icon.

Locate and right-click the "Dragon Naturally Speaking" entry. Select "Uninstall" from the pop-up menu.

Confirm the uninstall process by clicking "Uninstall" or "OK." Click "Yes" when prompted to save the voice training files. After a few minutes, the software uninstall will be complete. You can safely reinstall Dragon Naturally Speaking at a later time.

Reinstall Dragon Naturally Speaking

Open the DVD disc tray on your computer. Put the Dragon Naturally Speaking DVD into the tray. Gently close it.

Follow the initial onscreen prompts and, when prompted, enter the serial number. You will find the serial number with the paperwork that came inside the box.

Select the "Typical/Complete" installation method and click "Next." Enable the "QuickStart" option and click "Next" a few more times, and then click "Finish" to complete reinstalling the software.

Click "Activate Now" to authenticate the software license.
