How to Find Registry Files

by Kyle Anderson

Registry files are entries in the Windows registry, a collection of files and settings that are used by the operating system and the majority of programs that are installed on it. These files are accessed through the Windows Registry Editor, and can be searched, edited, deleted and created at will. When searching for specific registry files, take care not to delete or modify files that you are unsure about, as you may harm your operating system.

Click "Start" and type "regedit".

Press "Enter" and then click "Yes".

Click "Edit" then "Find".

Type in the name (or partial name) of the registry file you want to find and press "Enter" to locate it.
