How to Quit Verizon Wireless

by Matt McGew

If you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you can cancel your service at any time by calling Verizon's customer service department. Normally, when you sign up for service with Verizon, you enter into a service contract for a specified period of time. If you still have a service contract, Verizon will allow you to cancel your service, but you will have to pay an early termination fee.

Call Verizon Wireless customer service at (800) 922-0204. Alternatively, you can dial "*611" from a Verizon Wireless phone.

Tell the customer service representative that you would like to cancel your Verizon Wireless service. The customer service representative will let you know if you are subject to an early termination fee. The customer service representative will also confirm the address you want your final bill sent to.

Pay your final bill. Your final Verizon bill will include any unpaid charges for your cellular service and any applicable early termination fee. You must pay your final bill to close out your Verizon account. Verizon will send any unpaid bills to collections and adverse information about your Verizon account is sent to the credit bureaus.
