The Philips UM4 Magnavox Universal Remote can be programmed to control multiple devices in your household. For example, you can program the remote to control your TV, DVD player and CD player. This is advantageous to you because you can easily control any device you want without fumbling around looking for a different remote for each device.

Find the device code for the device you want to control with your Philips remote. Look in the user manual or click the link in the "Resources" section to find codes.

Turn on the device (TV, VCR, DVD player, etc.) that you want to program.

Press and hold the "Code Search" button. This button can be found in the upper left corner of the Philips remote. Release the "Code Search" button once the red indicator light stays lit.

Press and then release the device you want to program. The device keys are located across the top of the Philips remote control.

Enter the three-digit code. The red indicator light turns off after the correct code has been entered.

Press the "Power" button on the Philips remote, and the device you are programming should turn off.
