How to Program a Samsung Remote Control
By William Pullman
Some of the remote controls supplied with Samsung televisions are universal remote controls, which means they can be programmed to work with other devices in your entertainment center and cut down on the amount of remote controls needed to operate your devices. If your Samsung remote control has a "Mode" or "Set" button, it is a universal remote control. You can program your remote control to operate your DVD player, cable box, satellite receiver and VCR.
Step 1
Turn the power off on the device that you want program to work with the remote control.
Step 2
Use the "Mode" button on the remote control to highlight the device you want to program. For example, if you want to program your DVD player, press the "Mode" button until the indicator light comes on under "DVD." If your remote control has separate buttons for each device, press the button with the correct label.
Step 3
Press the "Set" button on the remote control and enter the first three-digit code for the manufacturer of your device (found in the Resources section of owner's manual). The code list is separated by manufacturer.
Step 4
Push the "Power" button on the remote control to turn on the device.
Step 5
Repeat Steps 1 to 4 using the next code on the list if the device does not turn on when the "Power" button is pressed. Continue through the list of codes until the remote can operate the device.
