Paying for a product or service online has become more common due to the ease and convenience it offers consumers. Instead of buying stamps, mailing out a check, waiting for the check to clear and post to your account, a lot of companies now offer online payment options. A few common types of online payment companies include Paypal and MyCheckFree.com. You will also find online payment options accessible through such places as your bank. For this article, I will explain how to process an online payment for MyCheckFree.
Create a New Account for MyCheckFree
First, navigate to http://www.mycheckfree.com. If you need to create a new account, there is a link on the website towards the bottom of the page. Click on it to take you to the sign-up screen. Next it will ask you to fill in your information. Follow the instructions as presented on the screen. Click "Agree" on the bottom to advance to the next screen.
The next screen will ask you to select which bills you would like to pay online. Keep in mind that this website only searches for bills available to pay in your area; not every company is offered. You can, however, do a search to see if a certain company is listed. Click the companies whose bills you would like to pay online and click "Continue."
The next screen will ask you to fill in your account information for each company you selected. It will generally ask for an account name, an account number, a billing address and your name and address. Fill these fields in, and click "Add" to advance to the next screen.
After adding the company you want to pay, the next screen will say if it has successfully been added. It will also tell you when you should expect your first bill. The next step will explain how to add your bank account information so you can begin paying bills online.
On the same screen as listed in Step 4, click on "MyCheckFree Profile" on the left-hand side. This window brings your personal information up, and is where you can add your bank account information. There is a folder on the left side of the screen that says "My Payment Accounts." Click it to advance to the next screen.
This is where you will need your bank account information. Your routing number and bank account number can be found at the bottom of your check. The routing number is the first set of numbers listed, and the account number is the next series of numbers. Enter your account information as instructed, and click "Continue." The next screen will have you confirm your information. Click "Add." If your information was entered correctly, the next screen will show that it has been successfully saved. You can also add credit card information to this screen if you would like.
Lastly, if you want to make a payment right away you can go back to the "e-Bills" page and click "Make Payment." From there you can enter the amount you would like to pay, as well as change the date to have the money taken out sooner or later. Then click "Continue." Be sure to click "Pay With MyCheckFree" on the next screen, because the payment will not be processed until you do so. When you have received the confirmation on the next screen, you have just processed an online payment.

- close When making an online payment through any online bill processing company, make sure any communication you get from the company is legitimate. If you get emails or phone calls asking for your information, do not give anything out and contact the company to let them know someone is asking for your information.
