How to Print With No Color Ink

by Joshua Laud

If your color ink runs out then there is a chance that you won't be able to print a document or image. A lot of printer manufacturers set their printers so that you have to have ink in both cartridges to be able to print anything. The easiest way to test whether you can print when you don't have any color ink is to test a black and white print yourself. You can change your printer preferences so that you only print in grayscale, which sometimes might allow you to print with no color cartridge installed.

Click "Start" and select "Devices and Printers."

Right-click your printer, and then click "Printer properties."

Click "Grayscale" or "Black and White" -- wording may vary -- in the "Color Options."

Click "OK."

Locate the file you want to print on your computer. Right-click it and click "Print."
