You can pay for your Amazon purchases with a credit card, checking account, debit card featuring a credit card logo or an Amazon gift card code. Amazon only allows you to use multiple payment methods if one of those methods is an Amazon gift card code and another is a debit card, credit card or checking account. It doesn't allow you to split your transaction total and pay with multiple credit cards. You can make a payment on Amazon order with multiple payment methods by using them all to buy Amazon gift card codes, then using the codes to pay for your purchase.

Accepted Ways to Pay on Amazon

According to Amazon, you can only split payments between a gift card and one of the accepted debit or credit cards. These include Visa, Mastercard, Discover Network, Diner's Club (US billing address only), JCB, NYCE, STAR or China UnionPay (credit card only), as well as some Amazon-branded cards.

How to Make Amazon Payments From Two (or More) Sources

Purchase enough Amazon gift card codes to cover the price of your planned Amazon purchase. Purchase them with cash, checks or credit cards in retail kiosks that sell Amazon gift cards; the gift card codes are on the gift cards, and purchasing the card activates the code for use on Amazon. You can also purchase gift card codes directly for any value amount on the Amazon website. Click on the "Gift Cards" link at the top of the Amazon home page and follow the on-screen instructions to purchase the type of electronic gift card you prefer.

Use only one payment method per gift card purchase. If you wish to use multiple payment methods, purchase several gift cards and pay for each one with a separate payment method. Splitting up purchases of gift cards across multiple payment methods is the only way to make a payment on Amazon from multiple sources. It can be time-consuming, but as long as you aren't using too many different payment methods, it won't be too much hassle.

Apply the gift card codes to your accounts. Click "Gift Cards" at the top of the Amazon homepage, then scroll down and click "Redeem Gift Cards" from the page that shows up. Sign in to your Amazon account when prompted, and enter each gift card code into the field separately, hitting "Apply to Your Balance" after each code. The purchase amounts of the gift cards will show up as credits toward future Amazon purchases.

Add items to your Amazon shopping cart and click "Proceed to Checkout" when you're done shopping. In the "Payment Method" screen, follow the instructions to add a payment method if the gift card credits don't fully cover the amount of your purchase.

You can only use gift card codes and one other payment method, such as a credit card or checking account. Although you can combine any amount of gift cards into a single purchase (and therefore the payment methods used to buy them), at the actual checkout, a gift card balance and Amazon card payment are the only way to combine two payment methods.

Complete your purchase. Click "Continue" in the "Payment Methods" screen, then review your order. When you're ready to submit the order, click "Place Your Order." You will receive a confirmation email for your purchase, sent to the email address associated with your Amazon account.
