by eHow Contributor

Paint, Notepad and Wordpad are three basic programs included with Windows. Use Paint to create images, Notepad as a simple word processing program, and Wordpad to open files too large for Notepad and to read Microsoft Word-compatible documents.

1

Move your mouse pointer to the bottom-left corner of your screen. Click on the round Windows icon; on some computers it will say "Start."

2

Select "Programs" or "All Programs" on the pop-up window. Select "Accessories."

3

Review the programs listed under Accessories. Use the mouse to move the pointer over the selected program: Paint, Notepad or Wordpad. Click once to open the program.
