How to Remove Pizza Grease Stains

By Alexis Kezirian

When a slice of pizza falls onto fabric, or when a drop of grease drips off of a fresh slice, it leaves an oily, greasy stain that for you to remove. Treat the stain properly or you will not only be ineffective in removing the stain, but you can potentially set the stain into the fabric for good. By removing the stain properly from the beginning, you will get rid of all greasy residue and restore the fabric to its pre-stain condition.

Sprinkle a heavy coating of powder over the stain as soon as it occurs. Use an absorbing powder such as baby powder, baking soda or cornstarch. Use any powder you have on hand, as you are simply looking for an absorbing agent that will collect the grease and pull it out of the fabric. Let sit for 2 minutes.

Scoop up the powder with a paper towel, and discard.

Pour a drop of dish soap onto the stain, and blot with a damp paper towel. Repeat until all pizza grease is removed. The soap will break apart the pizza grease without damaging the fabric underneath.

Rinse a cleaning cloth with cold water, and wipe over the area when all stain has been removed.

Launder as usual, if the item is machine washable. Otherwise, allow the fabric to air dry.
