How to Remove and Delete Album Art

Multimedia playback programs such as iTunes, Winamp and Windows Media Player store cover art for the songs in your digital music collection. These applications download the album art from the Internet and embed it in the associated music file. This feature lets you browse your music collection visually. However, you also can delete the downloaded album art to free up system memory or if the music player downloaded the wrong cover image.
ITunes
Click the Windows "Start" button, "All Programs" and then "iTunes."
Click a track in the iTunes playlist to highlight it. Alternatively, click "Edit" and "Select All" to highlight all the tracks in a playlist.
Right-click the track and then select "Get Info." Click the "Artwork" tab. Press the "Delete" button to remove the album art.
Click "Yes" when asked if you want to edit the information for multiple items if you highlighted more than one track. Check the "Album" box in the "Multiple Item Information" window. Click "OK" to delete the album artwork for the highlighted tracks.
Winamp
Click the Windows "Start" button, "All Programs" and then "Winamp."
Click a track in the Winamp playlist. Winamp only lets you delete album artwork one track at a time.
Right-click the track and select "Track Info." Click the "Artwork" tab. Click "Delete" to remove the album art.
Windows Media Player
Click the Windows "Start" button, "All Programs" and then "Windows Media Player."
Click "Library." Right-click the track or album you want to edit, and then click "Advanced Tag Editor."
Click the "Pictures" tab. Click the "Delete" button and then "Apply" to remove the album art.
Tips
- If you cannot access the "Advanced Tag Editor" in Windows Media Player, the file you want to edit is "Read-only." Locate the file on your hard drive. Right-click the file and click "Properties." Uncheck "Read-only" and click "OK." You now can use the "Advanced Tag Editor" in Windows Media Player to edit the file's album artwork.
