Logitech USB Headset Troubleshootingby Amanda Kondolojy
Internet headsets are very useful for those who like to use Internet-based VoIP and web chatting services without having to worry about using a separate mic and speaker system (which could cause feedback). The Logitech brand of USB headsets feature superior audio quality and an easy user interface. However, if you are having a problem with your USB headset, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to restore optimum functionality.
Use a Different USB Port
If this is the first time you are using your USB headset, or you are using a different USB port than you normally do, then you may want to try using a different USB port for your headset. Many computers feature a mix of different classes of USB ports (hi-speed and 1.0, for example) on one machine, and chances are good that your headset will only work best when it is plugged in to a hi-speed port. See your computer's owner's manual for more on your specific USB drive properties.
Adjust Input/Output Volume
If the sound levels sound off-balance and you can't hear other people in your headset (or they can't hear you), try adjusting the input/output volume. There are two ways to do this. If you have an advanced sound card utility, locate it and go to the input/output settings to adjust the volumes. If you do not have a sound card utility, go to your computer's sound options area (found in the system tray) and then adjust the mic input and sound output bars. It is best to do this while using the headset with someone else so they can provide feedback on your adjustments.
Ensure Proper Drivers are Installed
If you can't get your USB headset to work, you may need to install different drivers. When you first plugged in the headset, these drivers should have been installed automatically, but if there was a download error or the files became corrupted, you can visit Logitech's website to download the appropriate drivers. Once downloaded, the drivers will install themselves automatically, but you will need to restart your computer afterward. See the link in the Resources section for more on downloading drivers.
