iPhone: How to Sync Outlook Without iTunesby Mario Calhoun
Although syncing your iPhone calendar and notes with Microsoft Outlook can be accomplished using iTunes, this requires you to connect your phone to a computer every time. You can bypass the need to hook your iPhone up to a computer by syncing Outlook with the Google Gmail service. Once Outlook is synced to Gmail, your iPhone can wirelessly sync to Gmail through the Google Mobile Apps application, available in the App Store on your iPhone. The calendar syncing program for Google, "Google Calendar Sync," is compatible with Outlook 2003 and 2007, according to the official Google site.
Download and install Google Calendar Sync (see Resources for link).
Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner, and click "All Programs," "Google" and "Google Calendar Sync" to run the program.
Enter your Google ID and password in the appropriate fields, and click the circle next to "2-way." Click the "Sync every 120 minutes" box at the bottom of the program window, and replace the default number with a lower number to increase synchronization frequency.
Click the "Save" button to apply the changes and sync Outlook with Google.
Tap the "App Store" icon on your iPhone, and tap the "Search" icon at the bottom of the screen. Type "Google Mobile App" in the search bar at the top of the screen, and tap the search result.
Tap the "FREE" button, and tap "INSTALL." Enter your iTunes account password, and tap the OK button to download the application to your iPhone.
Tap the "Google" icon on your iPhone's home screen, and tap the "Calendar" tab.
Enter your password, and tap the "Sign In" button to access your Google Gmail information.
