How to Install an Outlook Express Icon on My Desktop

by C. Taylor

Your Windows Desktop allows you to add shortcuts to commonly used programs, so you can quickly locate and run them. Outlook Express is an integrated component in Windows XP and automatically generates a desktop icon. However, if you have deleted the Outlook Express icon, you can recreate it from the desktop itself.

1

Right-click an empty area of the desktop, select "New" in the context menu, and click "Shortcut."

2

Click "Browse" in the initial "Create Shortcut" window. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express," and double-click "msimn.exe."

3

Click "Next."

4

Type "Outlook Express" under "Type a name for this shortcut." Click "Finish."
