How to Install An MSN Toolbar Download

by Jacqui Lane

The MSN toolbar is a free download that adds Bing search functionality, live weather and news updates and Windows Live integration to a toolbar beneath your address bar. You can use the toolbar to sign into your Windows Live or Hotmail account and receive up-to-the-minute email notifications, preview new messages and chat with friends directly from the toolbar.

Visit MSN.com and click on the link in the upper-right corner of the page that says "MSN Toolbar."

Click the large white button in the center of the page that says "Free Download." When prompted, save the file to your desktop.

Double-click on the file that you just downloaded to launch the MSN Toolbar Installer. Make sure all browser windows are closed.

Uncheck the boxes of the options that you do not want to activate. By default, the installer has the options selected to use Bing as your search engine, change your home page to MSN.com, automatically download Windows Updates and enroll your computer in their customer improvement program.

Click the large blue "Install" button to commence installation. Your progress will be indicated by a green bar on the screen. After installation has completed, click "Close this window."

Launch your web browser and the MSN toolbar will be displayed beneath the address bar.

Tip

  • check The MSN toolbar is compatible with Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.
