How to Hook Up Your Webcam to Skype

by Garrett Genet

Skype is a free communications software that those with high-speed Internet access can use to interact via video conferencing, audio or text. If you have a webcam installed on your computer you'll want to take advantage of its functionality through Skype. For a small business, video conferencing puts faces to names and helps you maintain a personable relationship with each of your clients. You can enable Skype to access your webcam from within the program itself.

1

Start Skype and log in to your account.

2

Click the "Tools" menu and select "Options."

3

Select the "General" tab and click "Video settings." Your webcam should be automatically detected and configured by Skype.

4

Click "Webcam settings" to adjust specific options such as tint, hue, contrast or low-light compensation.

5

Click "Save" to save your settings.
