How to Hide Icons on the Desktop in Windows 7by C. Taylor
Not everyone wants to see the shortcut icons on their desktop. If you have your Windows 7 background set as a slide show, these icons block the pictures displayed. Besides, you can still access your programs through the "Start" menu. Windows 7 allows you to instantly hide all your desktop icons with just a few clicks of your mouse, so you can fully enjoy unfettered viewing of your background.
Hold the "Windows" key and press "M" to minimize any windows that may be blocking the desktop.
Right-click an empty area of your desktop, select "View" in the pop-up menu and click "Show Desktop Icons." This removes the checkmark next to "Show Desktop Icons," which signifies Windows 7 is hiding your icons.
Click "Show Desktop Icons" again to display the desktop icons if you need access to them.
