How to Format a Facebook Profile Address

by Leigh Thompson

A Facebook profile is accessible by entering the URL into the address bar of your Web browser. The default URL address for any Facebook profile is a combination of letters and numbers. By creating a username for your Facebook profile, you format your account address to replace those numbers with a username instead. This makes your profile URL easier to remember. Your username must be unique; you cannot use a username being used by another Facebook member.

1

Log in to your Facebook profile using your username and password.

2

Click the "Account" link in the top right corner. Choose "Account Settings" from the list of options.

3

Click the "Edit" button next to the "Username" option.

4

Enter a username in the text box.

5

Click the "Save Changes" button. Your new URL for your Facebook profile is the Facebook domain with the username you just entered, as in http://www.facebook.com/username where "username" is your username.

Warning

  • close You can only change your username twice.
