How to Fix an Error 1053

by Greyson Ferguson

When something goes wrong in Microsoft Windows and you are greeted with an error message, more often than not the error message will have a number attached to it, including Error 1053. Error 1053 normally occurs when you start, stop or pause a Windows service. The computer will freeze for a few moments until the Error 1053 message appears. Learn how to fix this error in a few easy steps.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (see the link in "Additional Resources," below). You will be asked if you want to save the file to the computer. Select "Save File." The service pack will now be downloaded onto the computer.

Open the downloaded icon (it will be on the desktop or in a Downloads window).

Follow the steps to complete the installation. Once the updated service pack is installed you should no longer see the Error 1053 message appear when you try to start, stop or pause a Windows service.
