Smart cards provide a highly secured way to log on to a network. You need to insert the smart card into the smart card reader and type your personal identification number to access the network. It is important, however, to enable your smart card reader on your network after installation to access this technology.

Click the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel." Double-click "Network Connections."

Right-click your network connection where you wish to use the smart card and select "Properties."

Click the "Security" tab. Select "Typical (Recommended Settings)."

Click "Use Smart Card" under the Validate My Identity as Follows section. Click "OK."
