Calibre is one of several convenient programs available for managing your e-book library, and can handle most major e-readers, including all the Kobo readers. The program can convert books from one format to another, share books between devices and upload locally stored books to your Kobo. A Kobo e-reader can read ePub, PDF, HTML, plain text and some comic book file types, among others.

Step 1

Connect the Kobo e-reader to your computer using the USB charging cable that comes with the e-reader, then launch Calibre.

Step 2

Click "Add Books" in the Calibre window and then navigate to the file you want to add to your Kobo. Click "Open."

Step 3

Right-click the name of the book from the list of books available on Calibre. Click "Convert Books" and then click "Convert Individually."

Step 4

Adjust the options in the conversion window to those you want to use on your Kobo. Click "OK" to convert the file when you're ready.

Step 5

Right-click the file you want to move to your Kobo and click "Send to Device." You can choose whether it's stored on the main memory or on the flash storage in the device. Click the location where you want to store it.

Step 6

Right click a file in your Calibre library and then click "Eject Device" before you remove the Kobo from your computer.
