How to Download Apps on an iPad

An iPad looks like a super-sized iPod. With its large screen display, it lets you view photos, send and receive emails, watch videos and more. In addition, applications are available for download. These are programs that perform a variety of functions. While they vary in genre, some common apps are games, utilities, productivity software and social networking tools. You can search for and download your favorite iPad apps in a matter of minutes.

Power on your iPad. Tap "App Store" on the home screen. The app store launches.

Search for the app you want to download. For example, if you want to search by category, tap the "Categories" icon. Tap "Featured" if you want to download one of the featured apps.

Tap the app you want to download. Some apps are free, while others vary in price. Tap "Free" if you want to download a free app, then tap "Install." Enter your Apple ID or password and tap "OK" to download your app.

Select the app you want to purchase if you do not want to download a free app. Tap the price and tap "Buy App." Tap "Install." Enter your Apple ID or password if prompted and tap "OK."

Tip

  • check Purchases are charged to your Apple ID. If you make additional purchases within 15 minutes, you don't have to enter your password again. If you do not have an Apple ID, launch iTunes and create one.
