How Do I Install Door Speakers in a Chevy Trailblazer 02?

One of the smartest and most cost-effective ways to improve the audio performance of your 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer is to replace the existing factory speakers. Aftermarket car speakers usually offer much better performance than what you'll experience with the factory-installed models. If you plan on doing the job yourself, you'll need to invest some time, but there are no technical issues you can't handle and the tools needed are readily available and simple ones.

Front Door Speakers

Remove the single Phillips screw from the back side of the door release trim.

Remove the two screws with 9/32-inch hex heads from underneath the door pull handle.

Pry around the edges of the door panel with a panel tool until the door panel separates from the door proper. Pull the panel upwards and away from the door. Unplug any wiring connectors attached to the back of the door panel.

Unscrew the four Torx T9 screws on the perimeter of the speaker. Pull the speaker out of the opening in the door. Unplug the speaker wire connector on the back side of the speaker.

Plug the new speaker into the speaker wire connector. Place the speaker in the door opening and screw it in place with the four Torx T9 screws. Replace the door panel by reversing the previous steps.

Rear Door Speakers

Remove the single Phillips screw from the back side of the door release trim.

Pull up the rectangular plastic screw cover in the bottom of the door pull handle and remove two 9/32-inch hex head screws.

Remove the two Phillips screws from the trim at the front of the window. Pry off the trim with a panel tool. Pry around the edges of the door panel with a panel tool until the door panel is separated from the door proper. Pull the panel upwards and away from the door. Unplug any wiring connectors attached to the back of the door panel.

Unscrew the four Torx T9 screws on the perimeter of the speaker. Pull the speaker out of the opening in the door. Unplug the speaker wire connector on the back side of the speaker.

Plug the new speaker into the speaker wire connector. Place the speaker in the door opening and screw it in place with the four Torx T9 screws. Replace the door panel by reversing the previous steps.
