How to Disable the Bing Toolbar

by Joshua Benjamin

The Bing toolbar is an add-on that is often included in new installations of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. It can also be added into Firefox as an add-on, if you wish. Many computer users, however, prefer not to have the toolbar cluttering up their browser window, and want to remove or disable it completely. It is a fairly simple task to disable the Bing toolbar and can be accomplished from within your browser window.

Internet Explorer

Click the "Tools" menu button. If the menu bar is not visible, press the "alt" button to make it appear.

Click the "Manage Add-ons" option in the "Tools" menu. This brings up a new dialog box.

Scroll down the list of installed add-ons and select the "Bing Bar" entry.

Click the "Disable" button and then select the "Bing Bar BHO" checkbox in the new dialog box that pops up.

Click the "Disable" button to disable the Bing Toolbar.

Mozilla FireFox

Click the "Tools" menu and select "Add-Ons."

Scroll down the list of add-ons until you locate the "Bing Bar" entry.

Select the "Bing Bar" entry and then click the "Disable" button that appears next to it.
