Receiving too many texts could be the result of getting SMS updates from Facebook.

What started as a campus-only social networking site in a dorm room at Harvard has evolved into the world-wide phenomenon that is Facebook. Millions of people use their Facebook profiles to stay up-to-date about their friends, favorite celebrities and businesses. The site is always adding new features including the ability to receive SMS text updates sent directly to your phone. Any time someone writes on your wall, sends you a private message or tags you in a photo, if you've activated the service, you get a text. However, if you change your mind and want to delete the SMS updates from your account, you can turn it off.

Log in to your Facebook account.

Click "Account" located at the top-right corner of the Facebook page.

Select "Account Settings".

Click the "Mobile" tab on the Account Setting page.

Click "Off" under the "Texts are" heading.

Tip

  • check To delete the SMS updates from your phone, text "Off" to 32655, the same number you texted to activate the service. You can always modify your settings if you don't want to turn the updates off completely. Go to the mobile settings in your account to change what types of updates you want to receive.
