How to Convert YouTube Video Into Audio

by Curt Lanning

Audio conversion of a video on YouTube, the free video-sharing site that's popular worldwide, can be a simple process. You just turn the video you have selected into an MP3, the most common file type for converting video to audio. MP3 files can be used in most media players.

Find the YouTube video that you want to convert to audio. Right-click on the video's url (the web address in the bar at the top of your browser window). From the menu that appears, select "Copy."

Navigate to the Vixy website. (See Resources.) Vixy, a free website, will convert YouTube video to audio so that you can download it.

Right-click on the bar at the top of the Vixy website under the header that begins "Online FLV Converter." Select "Paste" from the menu that appears. This will put the address of the YouTube video that you want to convert in that bar. Next, click on the drop-down menu next to the words "Converts to." From that menu, select "MP3 (Audio only)."

Click on the "Start" button under the words "Converts to."

Wait for Vixy to convert the video to audio. When conversion is completed, you will be given a download link. Click on it and choose where you want to save your audio file. When the download finishes, you will have converted the YouTube video to an audio file.
