How to Convert Files to PDF Online for Free

by Brandy Alexander

A portable document format, or PDF, is ideal for sharing content because recipients have the ability to open the file no matter the operating system. If you do not have software to create PDFs, you can use a free online file converter. This converter is accessible from your Web browser and automatically converts your documents with the click of a button. With the use of one of these converter options -- Zamzar, Online-Convert.com, or Neevia Technology -- you can create the PDF files you want.

Zamzar

1

Bring up the Zamzar website in your browser, then click the "Choose File" button to select the document you want to convert. Optionally, click the "URL" link to enter the URL location for your file.

2

Select the "PDF" option under the Step 2 heading, then enter an email address where you want to receive your PDF file.

3

Click the "Convert" button to start the conversion and receive your document.

Online-Convert.com

1

Point your browser to the Online-Convert.com site, then click the "Choose File" button, or enter your file URL in the specified text field.

2

Click the "Convert File" button.

3

Click the "direct download link" that appears on the page to obtain your PDF.

Neevia Technology

1

Navigate to the Neevia Technology website, then use the menus under the Conversion Settings title to determine how your PDF is produced. Enter a number, for example, in the Resolution text field, or click the "Watermark" button to set the characteristics of this feature.

2

Click the "Choose File" button to select your file. You have the option to click the "Supported File Formats" link to get a list of all the acceptable file types for this conversion if needed.

3

Enter your email address where prompted to get the PDF emailed to you; otherwise, select "Wait for conversion in browser," under the Delivery Method title.

Tip

  • check If you have problems uploading your file to the converter, check the provider page to see what the file size limit is.
