How to Convert ODS Files to Microsoft Excel Filesby Andrew Smith
ODS file format is the default format for spreadsheets that are created and saved using the Open Office office suite. These files are only compatible with Open Office and will not open in other spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft Excel. To edit an ODS spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel, you will need to convert the file. Fortunately, the Open Office spreadsheet program can be used to save the ODS file as a Microsoft Excel file and do so for free.
Download and install the latest version of the Open Office suite.
Open the application “Open Office Calc.”
Click “File” and choose “Open.”
Find and select the ODS file and then click “Open.”
Click “File” once more and then choose “Save As.”
Click on the lower drop box inside of the window and choose one of the listed Microsoft Excel options. The exact file type that you select will be based upon the edition of Excel you will use to open and edit the converted spreadsheet.
Enter a new name in the “File name” drop box if you want to do so and then click “Save” to convert the ODS file to Microsoft Excel.
