How to Convert CDG to AVI

CDG is an audio CD with graphics, typically used in karaoke machines. AVI is a multimedia video format that can be played on your computer. In order to convert CDG to AVI, conversion software is required. This article outlines converting a CDG disk to AVI using Power CD+G to Video Karaoke Converter (Mac or PC).

Launch your Power CD+G to Video Karaoke Converter application.

Insert your CDG disk into your computer's CD or DVD drive.

Click the radio button next to CD+G disc in the Input setting of the application's dialog box.

Click the Refresh button to display the tracks on your CDG.

Select the tracks to be converted by clicking the box next to that song.

Select AVI from the drop-down menu in the Output section of the dialog box.

Click the radio button next to "Output directory" in the Output section.

Click the "..." button to designate the location for the converted files (the default setting will save to the Temp folder on your hard drive).

Click the Convert button to begin the conversion process.

Wait for the converter to finish before checking that the songs were saved to your computer with the extension .avi. Each song may require two to four minutes to translate, depending on your system.

Tip

  • check Create a Karaoke or album folder on your computer to compile your converted tracks. Power CD+G to Video Karaoke Converter accesses the FreeDB on-line database to identify songs and albums. This feature is automatically enabled if an Internet connection is detected when you launch the application.

Warning

  • close The FreeDB database does not contain all CDG disks.
