How to Convert an Adobe Document to Word

by Suvro Banerji

Adobe documents, also known as PDF files, are commonly used for text documents, charts and graphics. However, not all computer users have Adobe Reader, which is required to open PDF files. To assure compatibility with other users when sharing a document, it can be helpful to convert a PDF file to a Word document. This process also is beneficial when a user needs to edit a PDF file without purchasing a PDF editing program like Adobe Acrobat.

Use "PDF-to-Word"

The "PDF-to-Word" online conversion tool is a free utility that lets a user upload any PDF file from a computer's local hard disk and convert it to a Word document file. It then sends the converted document to the provided email address. One of the benefits of this tool is that it is designed to convert and accurately re-position all the contents of the document upon conversion. In other words, the format remains the same.

Log on to PDF-to-Word website (see References below for the link).

Click on "Choose File" under Step 1. Browse to locate the PDF to be converted to a Word document. Click on the file and hit "Open."

Click to select ".DOC" under Step 2.

Type your email address under Step 3. Click on the "Convert" button. Navigate to the email account provided. Look for an email from PDF-to-Word in the inbox. If you do not see it, check your "Spam" or "Junk" folder. Open the email. The Word document is included as an attachment. Click on it and select "Save" to download the file to a secured location on the computer's hard drive.

Use "Convert PDF to Word"

"Convert PDF to Word" is an online tool similar to "PDF-to-Word." It also is free and lets a user convert any PDF file to a Word document. One of the benefits of this online tool is that it downloads the converted document directly on your computer instead of sending it to an email address.

Navigate to the "Convert PDF to Word" website (see References below for the link).

Click on "Choose File." Browse to locate the PDF to be converted to a Word document. Click on the file and hit "Open."

Click on the button "Convert and Download."

Click on "Save" when the download dialog box appears. Select a secured location on your computer, type a name for the Word document and click on "Save."

Use "PDFOnline"

"PDFOnline" is another free conversion utility tool. Like "Convert PDF to Word," this program does not require an email address. The Word document will be ready immediately after the conversion is finished.

Navigate to the PDFOnline website (see References below for the link).

Click on "Choose File." Browse to locate the PDF to be converted to a Word document. Click on the file and hit "Open."

Click on "Upload and Convert." The utility will then convert the PDF file.

Right-click on the link "Right-click here to download the Word file." Select "Save." Choose a secured location on the computer's hard drive and click "Save" to download the Word file.
