How to Connect Ping to Facebook

By Sharon Harp

The "ping" command is a small utility that makes a temporary connection from your computer to a remote computer that you are pinging. This connection sends a packet from your computer to the remote computer, and the remote computer -- if it is online -- sends a packet back. Your computer measures the time it took to receive a message back from the remote computer and displays that information, along with whether or not it actually got a response or not.

Click the "Start" menu, then click on "All Programs" and "Accessories."

Open the "Command Prompt" program.

Type "ping facebook.com" in the command prompt.

Press "Enter."
