Cleaning out the memory cache and stored cookies on your Vista computer can help to free up drive space and partially improve computer performance. While seemingly disparate tasks, these should both be part of a regular computer maintenance schedule, enabling you to keep your computer running as close to factory-new condition as possible.

1

Right click on the Desktop. Select \"New\" and \"Shortcut.\"

2

Type the following into the Shortcut location line: \"%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks.\"

3

Double click the shortcut to clear your memory cache.

4

Open \"Start,\" open \"Programs,\" and click on \"Internet Explorer.\"

5

Click the \"Safety\" button and select \"Delete Browsing History.\"

6

Check the box by \"Cookies\" and click \"Delete.\"
