How to Change My Name on Yahoo

Yahoo Mail users may wish to change their display name for various reasons. These include professional courtesy, privacy concerns or simply as a way to reinvent yourself. Changing your display name affects the identity that recipients see when they receive your emails. Alternatively, you can also create an extra email address within your existing Yahoo Mail account to represent the name you chose during its creation.

Change Display Name

Log in to your existing Yahoo Mail account.

Highlight the Settings menu, shown as a gear icon, then click “Settings.”

Select “Accounts” from the options, then click “Edit” from the Yahoo Account section.

Type the name you wish to use into the “Sending Name” field.

Click “Save” to apply the new changes.

Add Extra Email Address

Highlight the Settings or gear icon, then select “Settings.”

Click “Accounts” from the options.

Click the “Create an Extra Email Address” option.

Enter the new name you wish to use, which appears before the “@Yahoo.com” portion.

Click “Choose” and then enter the ensuing CAPTCHA code dialog.

Click “Go to Inbox” to create the new email address containing your new display name.

Select which address you wish to use by clicking the "From" field while composing a new email message.

Warning

  • close You can only have one extra email address per account. These can only be changed twice per year.
