How to Change a Homepage

by Brenda Sanders

Your homepage is usually set by default on your computer before you purchase it. This means that the first page you see when you first go online has been automatically set for you. You can choose to keep this page as a homepage or you can change your homepage to a different page. If you decide that you want to change your homepage to a different homepage, these instructions will help you to achieve this task.

Click once on the “Start” menu button which is located on the taskbar.

Find the “Control Panel.” Click once on it.

Click twice on “Internet Options.” The “Internet Properties” window will pop up. You will see seven tabs.

Click once on the “General” tab. You will see five subheadings.

Look under the “Home page” subheading. You will see a wide rectangle with an arrow at the top and bottom of the border on the right side of the rectangle. Inside this rectangle will be the internet address of your default homepage. Highlight the address inside the rectangle and click "delete" on your keyboard.

Type in the address you want to utilize as your homepage inside the rectangle.

Click the “Apply” button at the bottom of the “Internet Properties “ window.

Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the “Internet Properties” window. Your new homepage will come up the next time you go online.
