How to Build a Website for Selling T-Shirts

by Michael Cantrell

If you are looking for a great way to bring in some extra money, or to even start your own full time business, selling T-shirts is definitely one of the best ways to go. The greatest part about selling T-shirts online is that you can do the work from your home office, right from your computer, and you won't have to deal with customers or handling orders yourself.

Go to Blogger.com and set up a blog. Setting up your own blog here is free and is easy. Once you register, the site will take you step by step through the process of setting up your blog. The reason you want to have a professional-looking blog is that you will be making blog posts that are related to the type of T-shirts you are selling, or based on the subject matter of the shirts. For example, if you are selling political T-shirts, you will want to have relevant posts on your blog about current political situations and use those posts as a way to inform and also advertise the product you are trying to sell. This is one of the greatest ways to get indexed in the search engines and draw major traffic to your site.

Choose a professional-looking template for your blog, or create your own template for your business. Blogger offers a wide range of templates you can make your blog, but if you really want to get creative and have HTML experience, you can create your own template and use that for the background of your blog.

Register a domain name with either GoDaddy.com. There are a couple of different reasons for choosing GoDaddy as the company to register your domain name with. It is one of only two companies that Blogger will allow its bloggers to use to register their domain name. GoDaddy is also one of the cheapest and most affordable companies on the web, only charging $9.95 for domain name registration.

Visit Zazzle.com and set up a free merchant account. Zazzle is a website that will actually give you the tools you need to design T-shirts of all types and sell them on the Internet. It's free to sign up, and then you can start designing your shirts. Once you have a few shirts designed, Zazzle will create a gallery and an e-store to sell your custom made shirts. For each shirt sold, you get a percentage of the sales. One of the big benefits of using Zazzle is that you never have to deal with customers or shipping issues. All of that is handled by Zazzle.

Post links for your Zazzle gallery and e-store on your blog. As people come to read the content on your blog they will see the products you are selling on your site and will be more likely to purchase a shirt. Keep your product updated regularly, adding new designs and types of shirts regularly.

Post up pictures with each blog entry and product. Pictures will help to make your blog site look professional and will draw in more people to visit your site and buy t-shirts.

Sign up for a Google Adwords account and advertise your site. Google Adwords will run a keyword targeted campaign that will set up ads on Google and help you draw traffic to your website.
