Caller ID allows the recipient to identify the caller and decide whether to answer the phone call. But if you find that your phone call is being ignored, you may want to block your phone number. It's easy to temporarily block your phone number.

If you want to block your number permanently, you'll need to call your phone carrier's customer service department. A representative can block your phone number from the phone company office. When you want to unblock your phone number, you'll need to call your phone company again.

If you want to block your number on a call-by-call basis, then press *67 on your telephone keypad.

When you use the call blocking feature, you won't have any feedback that it works. If you want to test that the call blocking feature is functioning, call from another phone to confirm that the phone number is blocked.

Tips

Your phone number won't be blocked from emergency services or any toll free number. Cellphone blocking only works when you call businesses and individuals.
