How to Add Data Analysis in Excel 2007

by Shawn McClain

Microsoft Excel 2007 can use several high-level statistical and analytical tools, but they are not part of the basic Excel installation. These tools, which include analysis of variances, correlations, histograms and moving averages, are all part of an add-in called the Analysis ToolPak. The tools in the ToolPak are available after you load the add-in, which you can do through Excel's Options window.

1

Double-click the "Microsoft Excel" icon to launch the Excel 2007 program.

2

Click on the "Microsoft Office" button, located in the top-left corner of the Excel window. Click "Excel Options" at the bottom of the pop-up window.

3

Click "Add-ins" from the list on the left side of the screen. Click the drop-down arrow next to the "Manage" box near the bottom of the window. Choose "Excel Add-ins" from the drop-down list and click "Go."

4

Place a checkmark next to "Analysis ToolPak" and "Analysis ToolPak --- VBA." Click "OK" to load the ToolPak. Click "Yes" in the pop-up window to confirm that you want to install the ToolPak.

Tip

  • check You can access the data analysis tools from the Analysis area of the "Data" tab. Just click the "Data Analysis" button and choose your desired analysis tool from the list.
